On the White River. Bait fishing Sculpin, Nightcrawlers, or Shad has been producing some sizable Rainbows. Powerbait and Powerbait Trout worms in yellow, bubblegum,or orange has been doing well to catch numbers. If the generators come on, take advantage of the rise it creates a very good bite for the Rouges, Spoons, Roster Tails, and other artificial baits. Trophy Browns are being caught at night when the generators are shut down. Come see me for details on this method. The water in mountain creek cove is very warm and bass seem non existant even at 5:30 am keep coming back empty handed. Gar and drum thrive throughout day and night jumping out of the water at all times of the day. Maybe their is better luck elsewhere

Species: Smallmouth Bass
Fishing Rating: 5
Water Temperature: 60
"Main lake water temp is at about 60. The main points have slowed down as the fish move into spawning areas. Shallow sandy flats on the north side are full of Kentucky and Smallmouth Bass. Slow is still the key. Yellow and white Clousers(flyfishing)are still taking fish on fast sinking tips with a slow strip. Position the boat in about 12 feet of water and cast to within 4 feet of the brush keeping the bait just off bottom. The next 10 days should be killer on Bull Shoals as the weather will be a bit cooler and the lake is stable in elevation. With all the fly fisherman on the White river I'm surprised that I never seen a single person flyfish the lake. A 6 to 9 weight rod with a level 6 foot 12 lb test florocarbon leader is all that's needed. Attach that to a sink tip line (5"" to 8"" inch per second) attach a light weighted clouser and you're good to go."

Species: Walleye
Fishing Rating: 1
Water Temperature: 54
"Water temp is less than predicted at 54 but is starting to climb and with the sunny days forcasted should rise sharply the upcoming week. White Bass on the north creek arms are finished spawning but the main lake spawners are still with eggs. Large mouths, small mouths, spotted bass and walleye are on the MAIN LAKE POINTS with some smaller fish on the secondary points. I have been catching limits with the fly rod with fast sinking tips throwing yellow and white clousers. The trick is a slow presentation. The crappies are moving into shallow water getting ready to spawn but not in full swing yet."

Bull Shoals Lake Largemouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With Bull Shoals Lake at 54 degree water temperature largemouth bass fishing is getting ready to ramp up. The male bass will start moving up from deep water toward spawning coves and the big ones are right behind them. This is a great time to get out on the water and try hitting some deeper primary and secondary points. The female bass will start feeding at this water temperature in preparation for spawn. The male bass may be up shallow especially on sunny afternoons. Fishing sunny spawning grounds that are receiving the warm spring time sun is a great way to get a few largemouth bass in the boat.

Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Crappie should be getting ready to spawn. Stay out in deeper water and look for schools. Schooling shad will be harder to find with this water temperature so when you find it, stay on it. Crappie schools will be breaking up quite a bit getting ready for the spawn. Also try fishing shallower with small crank baits and spinners on the warm banks with direct sunlight. This is a great time to be on the water.

Walleye Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The walleye are coming off of the spawn now. Fish will be feeding very more aggressive making up for lost time eating during the spawn. Walleye will start moving back to their typical structure of choice and should be getting into the lake flats and deep structure. It?s time to hit the water. This may be the best water temperature to be on the water. There shouldn?t be too many fishermen on the water this early and there are many species that are hitting their prime water temperatures to be biting very well. Have fun today!

Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

The affects of the moon on freshwater fish and game are at a minimum right now. There will be a new moon coming up here in a few days. The fisherman should never use this as an excuse to not get on the water. The affects of the moon can only enhance the outcome of a day's fishing not decrease potential catch for today. On days without the new or full moon, all other factors including weather, barometric pressure, wind and cloud cover will make up today's equation for success.
