BIG PROBLEM WITH THE FISH: The Wife and I are trying to fish a new lake every weekend. Since it was 106 in the Valley we chose a higher elevation lake for cooler temps to fish. Lake was very low and warm we were told by the locals. The locals were not catching anything but we landed 5 Rainbows and 1 Brown in less than hour after fishing in 60\' deep with worms. (Trout didn\'t like spinners or crank) 3 of the 5 (10-13\") Rainbows had lots of parasites all over them. They had no fight and just pulled through the water like dead sticks. They were very ugly and sad to see these maggots looking bumps all over their bodies as you real them in. The others looked fine, and the Brown was a beautiful fat 18\" and fun to catch. I wonder if the lake was planted with diseased fish or what? We like to eat the smaller trout and throw back the big ones. But we didn’t like what we were seeing and stopped fishing and left. Very pretty area, with the snow covered peeks in the back ground year round, I’d stay clear this Summer of 2013 if your fish eaters. If you release everything, then they are there to catch.

I have fished this lake almost weekly for the past 3 months and have had very good luck catching rainbow trout. From what I understand the lake is stocked every 2 weeks and provides for good fishing from early morning until late afternoon. Most of the fish that I have caught were in deeper waters using power bait and at times a spinning bait. This is a 5 mph lake so you don't have to compete with waverunners or jet ski's racing around ruining your spot.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

The crescent moon will have better gravitational pull than a gibbous or half moon. However the affects of the moons gravitational will be decreased since the sun and moon aren't pulling in conjunction with one another. It's time to pay close attention to the other fishing factors in the weather to make the best decision for hitting the water.
