Melvern Reservoir Largemouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With Melvern Reservoir at 54 degree water temperature largemouth bass fishing is getting ready to ramp up. The male bass will start moving up from deep water toward spawning coves and the big ones are right behind them. This is a great time to get out on the water and try hitting some deeper primary and secondary points. The female bass will start feeding at this water temperature in preparation for spawn. The male bass may be up shallow especially on sunny afternoons. Fishing sunny spawning grounds that are receiving the warm spring time sun is a great way to get a few largemouth bass in the boat.

- Found some submerged trees dropped for fish attractants. We caught a few good smallmouth on inline spinners in this area. Excellent cove here at Turkey Point.

Smallmouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With the water temperature at 54 degrees smallmouth bass fishing is ready to heat up for spring. The bass will be starting to move into their spawning area. Smallmouth bass will generally spawn on rock and gravel bottoms that are protected from the elements. It's time to get fishing and look for staging bass in deeper water.
Melvern Reservoir Crappie Rating:

Melvern Reservoir Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Crappie should be getting ready to spawn. Stay out in deeper water and look for schools. Schooling shad will be harder to find with this water temperature so when you find it, stay on it. Crappie schools will be breaking up quite a bit getting ready for the spawn. Also try fishing shallower with small crank baits and spinners on the warm banks with direct sunlight. This is a great time to be on the water.
Melvern Reservoir Walleye Rating:
3.5
Melvern Reservoir Walleye Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Walleye Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The walleye are coming off of the spawn now. Fish will be feeding very more aggressive making up for lost time eating during the spawn. Walleye will start moving back to their typical structure of choice and should be getting into the lake flats and deep structure. It?s time to hit the water. This may be the best water temperature to be on the water. There shouldn?t be too many fishermen on the water this early and there are many species that are hitting their prime water temperatures to be biting very well. Have fun today!
Melvern Reservoir Catfish Rating:

Melvern Reservoir Catfish Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- Fishing at the spillway is great. Fishing live crawdads will get some monster drum. worms at the bottom will get you catfish.
Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

New Moon fishing can be at its best. The gravitational pull on the earth is at its peak when the moon and sun are rising and setting at the same time of day. This combination can generate extraordinary fishing opportunities especially if combined with perfect weather variances. The new moon may have the fish extremely aggressive and actively hunting for food. Try fishing a little faster today and with several different baits and techniques. When fish are more aggressive, its always fun to fish a little more aggressive. Watch the peak fishing times and make sure you are on the water during that part of the day to take full advantage of today?s solar/lunar peaks. Have a great day!
