Liberty Reservoir Largemouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Largemouth bass fishing is going to be pretty slow at 87 degree water temperature. Bass will start moving much slower and feeding less aggressively until the water temperature starts to get back down to comfortable levels. When the water temperature is up this high, it's time to get out fishing early and late in the day when the sun is not on the water. When you can get out for the entire day, it's a great time to fish some deeper water. Many large bass are taken this time of year since bass fishermen typically gets out deeper and fish slower with larger baits. Like any other time of year, the slower you fish with bigger baits on the deep drops and river channels, the better chance you have at a lunker. This is a great time to catch a trophy. Good luck out there today!

Liberty Reservoir Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Your lake crappie will be much more lethargic in the water temperature. They will be in deeper and cooler water. Crappie will be feeding; however they will not be feeding aggressively unless the other fishing factors are at prime levels. Find some moving water that is clear and you should find some more aggressive fishing.
Liberty Reservoir Walleye Rating:
2.2
Liberty Reservoir Walleye Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- For best walleye fishing use small bright colored lures near rocky areas where water drops from shallow to deep. Fish early in the morning or late in the evening. When using live bait try minnows or worms on the bottom.
Walleye Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With the water temperatures up this high, the walleye will really be moving slow and feeding even slower. It will be extremely difficult to stay on fish and catch good numbers. There will be good days that you can find a good pattern and fill the live well up. The good days of walleye fishing will be fewer and farther between until the water temperature gets back down. Good luck.

Liberty Reservoir Catfish Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- you need to use chicken liver.
Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Unlike most North American fish species, blue catfish, flathead and channel catfish are comfortable when the water temperature is this high. They will be feeding and moving in typical patterns. You will start having a little better luck if you can get to some moving water that is adding a little more oxygen for the baitfish and the catfish will be there also.

- 1. Make sure your drag is set loose...you can always tighten it.
2. I've had 20lb test snapped 3 times in this reservoir using a panfish the size of your hand as bait. No weight needed if you can cast far enough. The bait should settle down to the thermocline if the hook isn't too heavy.
3. Super bait....Liver. Again, no weight needed. The stripers are light hitters when it comes to liver. The trick with liver is, tie your hooks on a long leader several days in advance. Put liver on the hooks and place on wax paper on a cookie sheet and place in the freezer. You can throw that bait a country mile and when it settles to the bottom, it will thaw and be pristine.
4. Be patient...

Liberty Reservoir Smallmouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- For your best chances at catching a Smallmouth Bass in the 2-5 pound range, your best bet would be to fish around vegetation, fallen trees or drop offs with Swimming shads a Rattle Trap that resembles a real shad or a bluegill all with a stop and go retrieve or just a simple steady retrieve. The best bet for live bait would be a Large Shiner with a split shot or a crayfish.
Smallmouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Smallmouth bass fishing is going to be pretty slow at this water temperature. Bass will typically start moving much slower and feeding less aggressive until the water temperature starts to get back down to comfortable levels. When the water temperature is up this high, get out fishing early and late and cast in the shallows. When the sun is up it will be time to get out into deeper water, try fishing some drop offs and deep channel bends.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

The affects of the moon on freshwater fish and game are at a minimum right now. There will be another full moon coming up here in a few days. The fisherman should never use this as an excuse to not get on the water. The affects of the moon can only enhance the outcome of a day's fishing not decrease potential catch for today. On days without the new or full moon, all other factors including weather, barometric pressure, wind and cloud cover will make up today's equation for success.
