The crappie were biting off the marina dock like crazy off of live minnows on number 4 and 2 hooks, red bead tipped. Two of us on 2 poles landed 27 fish (1 drum and 26 crappie) from 8:00 am to 9:45. The crappie were small on the number 4's, a bit bigger on the number 2's. Maybe 5 keepers, but lot's of fun. Tried 6's, 4's, and 2's, red and yellow.

Croppie slow at Little Axe Thursday, oddly started to hit at 7 to 8:30. 2 foot off bottom in mid dock on minnows, jigs were awful. Caught one outside in 12-14 foot water using slip bobbers to set depth, but couldn\'t find school.

Native large mouth good on worms. With the cooler mornings the fish are starting to move into more shallow water. The catch was a 50/50 3-4 and yearlings. The yearlings are holding off points and sturcture around 4ft. The larger bass are on the move chasing shad. Crappie are 10-12 ft or water, good size slabs. They are hanging tight to structure. Best on minnows but good on jigs.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

The affects of the moon on freshwater fish and game are at a minimum right now. There will be another full moon coming up here in a few days. The fisherman should never use this as an excuse to not get on the water. The affects of the moon can only enhance the outcome of a day's fishing not decrease potential catch for today. On days without the new or full moon, all other factors including weather, barometric pressure, wind and cloud cover will make up today's equation for success.
