I camped at fort stevens for 3days. First night, went out around 7:30pm - 9;15pm. Caught two nice 14in rainbow trout. The second day, out at 6:30am-8:00am caught one fish on the first cast. Then I went back out around 3:30 pm and caught one and caught another around 7:30pm. Didn\'t fish any on the last day. I was just casting out and reeling in. I was using power eggs, that were red and yellow. Second day I added a wedding wring. Using 6 lb. leader and line.

Pretty decent self sustaining lake for Largemouth Bass, Bluegill and Perch. I caught 14 bass in the 1 - 1 1/2 pound range and one at 4 pounds last year on one day. Toss in the abundance of Hatchery Rainbow and the mix of 'Recycled' Steelhead and Brood Trout that ODFW plants into this small body of water and it leaves you with a fairly decent fishery. Multiple locations for easy bank angling for children and those who don't want to bust brush. Also easy fishing for the average boat angler with rentals available on site. For the avid angler, there are opportunities to coax out a 'big one' be it a hold-over, Broodstock, recycled or just plain old lunker. I have fished with all types of gear from Fly to Spincast with a bobber. Any offering presented will catch fish when the school(s) make their tour of the lake.

- The lake is stag,I recommend catch and release because they smell.
Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Largemouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 39 degrees. If you have a chance to get out on the water, you are going to have to fish deep and slow. Jig fishing and Plastic baits may be your best bet this time of year for largemouth bass. You may also try fishing some sinking jerk baits.

Smallmouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Smallmouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 39 degrees. It's time to fish deep and slow. Try some deep primary points, drop offs, and old river channels with rocks. Jigs, plastics and deep jerk baits will be your best bet to boat a smallmouth.

Coffenbury Lake Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Crappie fishing is sometimes at its best with the water temperature down this low. Crappie will be in large schools and follow the large shad schools around in extremely deep water. Find the deepest parts of your lake in old river channels and scan your graph for schooling shad. When you find the school, drop your plastics or live bait down to the bottom of the shad and get ready. Many crappie fishermen will be catching awesome numbers and size of fish this time of year. If you are brave enough to get out on the water this time when the water temperature is this cold, it can really pay off. Be careful out there, remember to boat safely. Never take any chances at these temperatures.
Coffenbury Lake Walleye Rating:

Walleye Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Walleye function very well in the colder water temperatures. Try fishing some open flats and definitely use live bait when the water temperature is this low. Plastics with scent added will also produce results, but nothing beats live bait for walleye.

Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

The crescent moon will have better gravitational pull than a gibbous or half moon. However the affects of the moons gravitational will be decreased since the sun and moon aren't pulling in conjunction with one another. It's time to pay close attention to the other fishing factors in the weather to make the best decision for hitting the water.
