Water Temperature:
Bays have safe ice. Fishing is fair. After this week ice should be at least 5\" in the bays, Lake will skim over but may not be safe. Be careful if you have a Ice bar take it, if you don\'t have one stay off the ice.

Lake Wallenpaupack Largemouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With Lake Wallenpaupack at 43 degree water temperature this is a great time to get out on the water and try hitting some deeper primary and secondary points. Largemouth bass will be feeding at this water temperature but will be much harder to catch. On Sunny warm afternoons its a great time to throw a crank bait, jigs or slow roll a spinnerbait at 5-10 foot on sunny points and drops off of sunny flats. Largemouth Bass will move into warm water on warm sunny days.

- drop-shot finesse baits at 23ft
Smallmouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Smallmouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 43 degrees. It's time to fish deep and slow. Try some deep primary points, drop offs, and old river channels with rocks. Jigs, plastics and deep jerk baits will be your best bet to boat a smallmouth.
Lake Wallenpaupack Crappie Rating:
3.5
Lake Wallenpaupack Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Crappie will just be starting their migrating runs from deep river channels toward major tributaries. They will suspend in open water and channels in deep water and cover on the break lines. Crappie will stage off primary and secondary points this time of year while they are getting ready for spawn. Make sure you don?t forget the river channels, especially with structure and sharp breaks in deep water. Some crappy will hang back in this area waiting to come up to the staging areas. Drifting and slow (REALLY SLOW) trolling with jigs and other artificials work great this time of year. Always look for baitfish schools and concentrate more time when you see the bait.
Lake Wallenpaupack Walleye Rating:
3.5
Lake Wallenpaupack Walleye Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Walleye Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Walleye will be staging and getting ready to spawn now. With Walleye spawning grounds generally on gravel and rocky bottoms and preferring clean water. Start looking for pre-spawn fish in deeper waters with easy access to shallow clean water rocky bottoms. Walleye should be feeding aggressively right up until they start laying eggs. This is a perfect time to be fishing for Walleye.
Lake Wallenpaupack Catfish Rating:
3.5
Lake Wallenpaupack Catfish Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

- free swim live herring OR live herring with a bobber about 3-4 ft up the line. let
it swim withing 20-3- ft of the shoreline near a rocky outcropping until your
bobber disappears or your rod bends. I\'ve found the best time to fish for striper
in the summer is between 11:00pm - 3:00am, preferrably during a full moon and calm
night. the bait fish will be extremely active and the trophy sized striper as well
as the small mouth will be hitting the surface near the shore. be ready for a
fight. If caught near shore, these fish will take off for deep water and take all
your line with them.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

The affects of the moon on freshwater fish and game are at a minimum right now. There will be a new moon coming up here in a few days. The fisherman should never use this as an excuse to not get on the water. The affects of the moon can only enhance the outcome of a day's fishing not decrease potential catch for today. On days without the new or full moon, all other factors including weather, barometric pressure, wind and cloud cover will make up today's equation for success.
