Pymatuning Lake Largemouth Bass Rating:
3.5
Pymatuning Lake Largemouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- Lake is a little low, but the largemouth have moved onto the wood up north. Launched at Wilsons
and covered a lot of shoreline. Big ones are up already not just little bank runners. Caught 1 4lber, a
three 3lbers and lots of other solid fish. Lost a big one too. 11 fish caught in 4 hours. Flipped
Beavers on the wood. 4/0 Gamakatsu EWG, Stren Super Braid 50lb test. Water color looks good,
the rains should help raise water level and bring more fish up. Water temps up north 44-45.
Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Largemouth bass fishing is going to be pretty slow at 84 degree water temperature. Bass will start moving much slower and feeding less aggressively until the water temperature starts to get back down to comfortable levels. When the water temperature is up this high, it's time to get out fishing early and late in the day when the sun is not on the water. When you can get out for the entire day, it's a great time to fish some deeper water. Many large bass are taken this time of year since bass fishermen typically gets out deeper and fish slower with larger baits. Like any other time of year, the slower you fish with bigger baits on the deep drops and river channels, the better chance you have at a lunker. This is a great time to catch a trophy. Good luck out there today!

- Fishing from the causeway, either side, depending on the wind. Use minnows (1.5 - 2 inch) Set the bobber at about 7-8 feet. Fishing out about 15-25 feet from the shore.

Bite are coming within 5-10 minutes apart.

Try it about 6:30 - 10:30 pm

Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Your lake crappie will be much more lethargic in the water temperature. They will be in deeper and cooler water. Crappie will be feeding; however they will not be feeding aggressively unless the other fishing factors are at prime levels. Find some moving water that is clear and you should find some more aggressive fishing.
Pymatuning Lake Walleye Rating:
3.3
Pymatuning Lake Walleye Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- I don't know what happened but I have been catching the walleye pretty good off the humps in the north end of the lake then the smallmouth moved in and I haven't been able to catch an 'eye off them. The talk at the launch is that the walleye are shallower in around 4 - 6 feet of water. People are having success with nightcrawlers.
Walleye Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With the water temperatures up this high, the walleye will really be moving slow and feeding even slower. It will be extremely difficult to stay on fish and catch good numbers. There will be good days that you can find a good pattern and fill the live well up. The good days of walleye fishing will be fewer and farther between until the water temperature gets back down. Good luck.
Pymatuning Lake Catfish Rating:

Pymatuning Lake Catfish Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Unlike most North American fish species, blue catfish, flathead and channel catfish are comfortable when the water temperature is this high. They will be feeding and moving in typical patterns. You will start having a little better luck if you can get to some moving water that is adding a little more oxygen for the baitfish and the catfish will be there also.

Pymatuning Lake Smallmouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- This seems crazy, but last April around the 10th or so, I was out there with my son fishing for bass. I'm throw a jig around and he pulls out a topwater, after a quick tutorial as to why that wouldn't catch fish this time of year, he was stubborn enough to use it anyway because it was "neat". He caught 6 smallmouth with that thing before I was stubborn enough to switch. We had a heck of a day, went out the next day and did okay with it again but not as good. We were throwing Rebel Pop R's skittering them across the surface. Just work down the bank casting, we caught a couple largemouth too. I can't wait until April, it's almost here.
Smallmouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Smallmouth bass fishing is going to be pretty slow at this water temperature. Bass will typically start moving much slower and feeding less aggressive until the water temperature starts to get back down to comfortable levels. When the water temperature is up this high, get out fishing early and late and cast in the shallows. When the sun is up it will be time to get out into deeper water, try fishing some drop offs and deep channel bends.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

The crescent moon will have better gravitational pull than a gibbous or half moon. However the affects of the moons gravitational will be decreased since the sun and moon aren't pulling in conjunction with one another. It's time to pay close attention to the other fishing factors in the weather to make the best decision for hitting the water.
